Battle of The Best Hangover Burgers in Hampton Roads

Battle of The Best Hangover Burgers in Hampton Roads

I love hangover burgers. Often called a breakfast burger, its comes with bacon, cheese, and an egg. I judge a restaurant based on their ability to make a good one, because the quality and preparation of the ingredients make a big difference in the overall taste. So with recommendations from the inter-webs, I went on a search to find the best in Hampton Roads and share them with you.

To be fair and consistent I order them the same way: the burger cooked medium, lettuce tomato and onion (LTO), and a side of fries. I'm calling this, the Battle of the Best Hangover Burger.

Esoteric VB: A Hipster Haven, Locale for the Cultured Eater or Just Basic Food?

Esoteric VB: A Hipster Haven, Locale for the Cultured Eater or Just Basic Food?

By definition, Esoteric means something intended for or understood by a small number of people. Before having dinner at the Virginia Beach based restaurant, I read an online review where someone was turned off by them based solely on their use of this word. While this may have been intentional on the businesses part, it didn't bother me because a quick skim of their menu didn't require the use of too much brain power. I had been reluctant to visit due to their attraction to the hipster crowd. I saw that to downgrade them, but so often restaurants with that following serve food that is only aesthetically pleasing (i.e. no real flavor).

Terrapin Review: Flashback to 2016 Virginia Beach Restaurant Week

Terrapin Review: Flashback to 2016 Virginia Beach Restaurant Week

Terrapin, a self proclaimed supporter of the slow food movement, and a Chef (Rodney Einhorn) who has cooked at the James Beard house, has been high up on my 'must visit' list for longer than I want to admit. My senseless reason for not visiting...fine dining is intimidating.

This past October I attended the March of Dimes Signature Chef's Auction in Virginia Beach. This event features local chefs showcasing their dishes, live entertainment and an auction, with the goal of raising money for the prevention of birth defects, premature births and infant mortality.

Hampton Roads Blogger Brunch Meet-Up

Hampton Roads Blogger Brunch Meet-Up

In an effort to connect with more bloggers in my area, get ideas on how to improve my blog, and of course go out to eat, I recently became a member of the Virginia Bloggers group. To my delight soon after joining, Liz, the sites organizer and Blogger of I Heart Vegetables hosted a Brunch and Meet Up for Hampton Roads Bloggers at Tupelo Honey Cafe in Virginia Beach.

Fire and Vine: Restaurant Week 2016

Fire and Vine: Restaurant Week 2016

Steak purists have said that if a steak is cooked properly, it doesn't need any extras. They say, additional sauces take away from the flavor of the meat. While my steak was juicy and tender on its own, the emulsion and egg added an extra layer of flavor that I never thought I would appreciate.
